Vintage Dresser Rescue

Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (6)

Ahhh, this poor dresser has definitely seen better days.  I’m so happy I got to be the one to save it.  Well, with a little help from my husband of-course.Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (3)Here’s a photo of the “before”.  If you look closely, you can see that all the drawers are falling inward.  All of the rails needed replacing.  Honey?!?!?!?Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (4)New rails were cut and installed and then my husband asked me to do the rustic vintage white treatment to the base and leave the top and drawers stained.  I was all for it.  It’s one of my favorite looks too but it not always possible.  In this case, I knew it would be amazing!Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (7)I painted a couple of quick layers of CeCe Caldwell’s Vintage White and got out the power sander.  If you don’t have a sander or a place to make a mess, you can also accomplish this effect by wet distressing.Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (10)I then grabbed the bottle of Old English I keep handy just for this type of occasion and wiped down the top and drawers.Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (8)I was very fortunate that all the knobs were still attached and it great working order.  LOVE it when that happens!!!Vintage Dresser Rescue ~ Vintage Street Designs (5)This piece is going to be stored away until the next Junk In The Trunk Vintage Market November 20.  I’m starting now so hopefully it won’t be so stressful when it comes down to crunch time.  That’s my thought anyway.

Updated photo…Craft Room ~ Vintage Street Designs (14)It made it’s way into the house so I thought I would take a better photo.  It looks so pretty now!

  1. Your dresser turned out beautiful! I really love the look of leaving some of the parts the original wood finish. I want to try this myself some day but I get too intimidated. I just need to get brave and try it… Thanks for sharing!
