Our Valentine Dining Room

Whew…it’s always so much work to pack away all our Christmas decorations!  It’s always a great feeling when it’s done and the house is all clean and put back together, right?  Well this year, I decided to go right into Valentine decorations.  I wanted to keep the colorful and festive feel going in our home.

Our Valentine Dining Room TablescapeAlmost everything you see on our table is for sale or purchased at the Dollar Store.  Our Valentine Dining Room (4)I have a 16 place setting of our white dishes I purchased years ago when attending a cousin’s wedding in Canada.  I don’t however, have enough silverware to leave out all the time.  I’ll have to keep my eye out for something pretty when scoping out estate sales! Our Valentine Dining Room (7)I made a quick trip to the Dollar Store and spent just under $10.  Six of those dollars were spent on the stemmed glassware.  When we downsized we got rid of so much (maybe a little too much) that I didn’t even have nice glasses to set out.  I actually really like these with their swirly design. Our Valentine Dining Room (11)I also did a little re-arranging by bringing back out the chicken wire cabinet my dad made for me.  I was using it as a library in the quest room but now it stores my ironstone, tea set handed down from my grand-mother (my dad sent this set to her while serving in Japan) and other pretty serving dishes. Our Valentine Dining Room (8)The old window was a gift from my brother.  It came from his old farmhouse.  I just LOVE it!Our Valentine Dining Room (20)

Our Valentine Dining Room (17)I wanted to add something to hold special Valentine favors and while looking around the Dollar Store, I came up with this idea.  More about this in a later post. Our Valentine Dining Room (14)Lots of sparkle going on!Our Valentine Dining Room (22)I’ve already added more silver to the top of my plate rack.  My beautiful footed silver tray sold that was sitting up there so I thought it looked a little empty.  The small cracker tray you can barely see…is now propped up against the wall and I added another pitcher.  It looks much better now but it’s too dark to take a picture.  You’ll just have to take my word for it!  HahaOur Valentine Living RoomAnd here’s a peek at Our Valentine Living Room.  It’s still a work in progress but it will be done soon!

Have you started decorating your home for Valentine’s Day yet?  I’m usually way behind so I’m enjoying being ahead of the game for once!

Until next time…
