Dollar Store Valentine Place Cards

I had such a great time walking through the Dollar Store and trying to think outside the box.  I wanted to create an inviting Valentine tablescape but didn’t want to spend a lot of money.  I already had the silver and the glittery table runner (formally Christmas tree skirt).  So I decided to keep with the theme.

Dollar Store Valentine Place Cards

20131231_213522First, I found these little favor boxes which came in a set of six ~ PERFECT!20131231_213543Then I found this card, two for a dollar.  I snatched them up!20131231_215613When I got home, I cut out all the hearts.  Then I gathered up other items from around the house, such as the wooden stir sticks I use for my paints and my trusting can of black chalkboard paint.  I also have a whole bunch of the tiny clothes pins I use for photos on the chicken wire frames I make.

I laid out the stick on a sheet of wax paper and painted them with the chalkboard paint.  Once they were dry, I used my chalk pen to write our children’s names on them.  I wish they were really going to be here for Valentine’s Day but this helps keep them close.  If they were all going to be here, I would need a much larger table to include our wonderful son-in-laws and grandchildren.  Wouldn’t that be AWESOME?Our Valentine Dining Room (17)Just fill the boxes with goodies, place the stick in the middle an clip the heart on top!  Full of love and easy to do!
