Really… what an extra special piece! Can’t believe I got her home with me! Isn’t she beautiful with all the details? I couldn’t what to give her some love and a well overdo makeover!
Here’s a couple of “before” photos.
Bottom drawer has a nick out of it but no worries, it will be less noticeable with little paint.
And here she is now! I’m trying out some new colors in the CeCe Caldwell”s Paint line. This is Cinco Bayou Moss. Love the richness of this color.
The top had a few scratches but overall in good shape so I didn’t want to paint it. I love the contrast of stain and paint. I asked my husband to rub on a coat of stain to fill in the imperfections and it turned out beautiful.
Such a cool design for a desk. Especially good when decorating small spaces. This would make a great beverage bar too, don’t you think?
I finished her off with clear wax and then a coat of dark aging cream to give her depth.
I couldn’t change the knobs, they are wooden and screw in without going all the way through. I could have had my husband drill new holes I suppose but decided to paint the existing knobs instead. I use Cinco Bayou Moss for a base and then topped it off with Virginia Chestnut. I gently rubbed them with a damp cloth to distress.
I took her down to Furniture Affair in time for REVIVAL ~ a vintage market. We’ll see how she does!
