A little over a week ago, I was able to fly into Spokane, WA. for my High School Reunion. It was so fun to visit with past friends (no need to mention how many years have gone by). Most of my family still resides in Spokane so I always have a place to stay. On Sunday, my cousin Patti asked her sister and I to accompany her while she went to preview a lake cabin on Lake Chatcolet. Just a 45 minute drive from Spokane Valley. We were more than happy to do so. Patti just moved back to Spokane in June from San Diego. She plans to retire here. This is a view from one direction while standing in front of the cabin. So beautiful. Here’s a view looking the other direction. And here’s the cute little cabin, just over 600 sq. ft. All the cabins surrounding the lake are small and many have enclosed their front decks with screens. They make perfect sleeping porches or additional dining space without the worries of mosquitoes or bees. Here’s a closeup and a little more clear photo. The sun was shining so bright. It was a perfect day for sitting on the dock with our feet dangling in the water.Patti wrote a deposit check right then and there. She was SOLD!!! I’m so happy I got to be apart of this exciting time in her life. There is another cousin who has a cabin just 4 doors down from hers. There will be lots of time here building memories in the future!!!We’re not completely sure who is more exciting about this new venture…Patti or her very special puppy Sienna!
Making her stop and pose for the camera now!Another shot with her hair down!We were all so engrossed in the details of the property that we forgot to take photos of the inside before the owner locked it up and left. But I can tell you…it’s ADORABLE. Two bedrooms, one bath with lots of built-ins. My favorite feature has to be the stone fireplace though. This little cabin was built in the 1930′s and not much has been touched since then. This is the parking space with a large wood shed built underneath. The sign above will soon read “The Dikes Family” (or something similar to this). This is the space behind the cabin. Large enough to pitch a tent for overflow. The previous owner’s son said there was an old outhouse in the bushes but none of us went looking for it!This is the stairway that leads down from the parking area to the cabin. So charming and rustic but Patti has plans to have new stairs built for safety reasons.Another dream has come true and a check off the old bucket list for my very deserving cousin! Congratulations Patti!!! I wish you many years of enjoyment as you spend time at your CABIN ON THE LAKE!
