Dry Brushed Buffet Makeover

Dry Brushed Buffet MakeoverTalk about a FUN makeover…this may have taken a little bit more time and effort but it was so fun to do!!!

SAM_5108Before ~ Oh, the possibilities…

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (17)The very first thing I established was that I would not be able to remove ALL the hardware, so I decided to just paint and distress them too.

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (9)Then I cleaned the entire piece and got out my first container of paint.  I definitely had to take advantage of all the wonderful details so I painted a layer of CeCe Caldwell’s Vermont Slate to highlight those areas.

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (1)Next, using the dry brush method, I layered and layered aaaaaaand layered Vintage White and Seattle Mist until I was happy with how it looked.  Then, with my husband’s help, we moved the beast outside where I proceeded to sand the edges, sides and top.  My client wanted it to look extremely distressed.  There were a few areas I got a little carried away, Oops!  It happens!!!  So once we hauled it back inside I just dry brushed over those areas real quick and I was done!

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (11)Perfect condition!

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (5)I think this totally has the “Cool Factor” going for it, don’t you?  I can think of so many uses for this cabinet…craft room storage, T.V. console, buffet/server to name a few.

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (18)It’s heading out the door this week.

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (13)The finishing touch was brushing on a mixture of clear and dark aging cream (heavy on the dark).

Thomasville Rustic Buffet Makeover (15)BREAKING NEWS coming this week!  Can’t wait to share with you all what’s happening around here!  EXCITING STUFF!!!

Blessings ~

Judy

  1. That is amazing! It looks like old worn barn board, but better with all the “carving”.

Can’t wait to hear your exciting news!

    • Thanks Heather…it’s exactly what my client ordered! I love the way it turned out. Gosh, it’s so hard to see a piece like this go out the door. I’m thankful for the business but I’m telling ya, my own house will never be complete ’cause I sell everything. LOL Looks like the news will be delayed a few days but it’s still coming!!!
