Beautiful Karges Bedroom Suite

THIS is an AMAZING transformation you are about to see!!!  Not only did my client take a high risk in purchasing this ornate set, she took even a higher risk in having me paint it.  Reason being, ~ it would be going up for sale in her shoppe.  We could see the potential of giving a new look to this very special bedroom suite but others expressed it would be a hard sell.  I would LOVE to hear your thoughts!

Karges Bedroom Suite Makeover

IMG_20130625_130607Here’s the “before” photo.  From a distance, it looks in great shape but up-close and personal you can see the flaws.

SAM_0416Take not of the upper R.H. corner.  There was just some normal wear and tear in areas throughout .  Nothing major but certainly not in perfect condition.

SAM_0417First things first.  I had to do a little sanding, then cleaning, then remove all the hardware.  This is when I sacrificed my finger.  Ouch!  Even got bloody.  What I won’t do for my clients!!!

SAM_0418And then the next accident happened.  I had a finished piece sitting near by when all of the sudden, a knob when flying through the air and landed right on it.  Broke through the Poly seal so I had to sand it down and do it over again.  Oh my gosh…really?  I just had to laugh, it was either that or cry right?

SAM_0160Working in tight spaces!!!  My house was lined with furniture as I painted.  Here’s one of the finished nightstands.  I used CeCe Caldwell’s Paints, layering Virginal Chestnut, Vintage White and Seattle Mist.  We wanted to keep the gold gilding exposed for a dramatic effect.

SAM_0158And this is the beautiful dresser.  I moved my sofa even further out into the living room so I would have space to paint.  Again, it’s such a good thing this paint wipes up with water.  As you can see, I kind of made a mess!  Haha!

SAM_0156Loving it so far and hoping it sells for my client!

SAM_0166OK…this piece I painted in my hallway, scooting along on the floor as I went.  Total craziness I know!

2So here it is after being delivered.  Just 33 minutes after the shoppe opened, a customer walked down the isle and said “I’ll take it”!  WAIT, WHAT???  My client couldn’t wait to call me and let me know.  A total BLESSING!  The risk paid off and the customer LOVES it as much as we do!  AMAZING!!!

1You may recognize a few of my other pieces in this space ~ the distressed black faux bamboo cabinet, the end tables in the upper R.H. corner and the china cabinet to the far left.

4Here’s another view of the space and the vintage glass bookcase I also just finished for the space.  The triple mirror you see has also sold but she has another one going up in it’s place very soon.  All this and more can be found at Scottsdale Market Place in Scottsdale, AZ.  Just ask for “Regency Mod”.

Until next time…
