I just can’t resist a good piece of marble, how about you? I was with a friend/client the other day at an auction and between the two of us we picked up several pieces accented with the gorgeous marble. She won the bid on two of these beautiful coffee tables which in turn, came home with me so I could paint them. She will be picking them up tomorrow to place in her exceptional booth space in Scottsdale , AZ. I will share more about her in a future post. Anyway, it was approx. 106 degrees outside and we didn’t have our husbands to help us with our purchases. I had my pickup and she had her SUV. Together we lifted off each marble top and carried them to our vehicles, back and forth we went in the hot sun and then drove to my house to unload it all. We were laughing the entire time as sweat was dripping, repeating out loud; “What a girl won’t do for good piece of marble!”
I of-coarse forgot to take a before photo of these tables but I do have a before pic of another piece that matches. This sweet little harp table has the same finish as the coffee tables had. It’s OK, but I LOVE the grays and whites with this carrara marble top. (I will be doing a future post of the harp table when it is finished. I won the bid on this one!)And here’s a close up. I used CeCe Caldwell’s Chalk Paint. First step was to clean then I painted Vintage White on the areas I wanted to highlight. Next, I painted a two layers of Seattle Mist (perfect neutral gray color). Then, using a damp cloth, I proceeded to lightly rub away the areas I had painted in white along with all the corners. I used CeCe’s clear wax as a finishing touch. Oh my goodness…they turned out exactly the way we hoped they would. We had vision and went for it! So happy with our purchases!
Luckily, I already had a massage scheduled for the day after we did all this hard labor. It was 1 1/2 hours of pure bliss!!!
Until next time…
