My Search For A New Rug Is Over…

Yahooy!!!  While checking my emails on Sunday, I noticed there was a Final Sale Day on rugs at West Elm!  So I sweetly mentioned it to my husband and asked him if he wanted to go shopping with me or if he’d rather stay home and play video games?  He chose, at no great surprise, video games!  Actually, that was OK with me since I like to browse and take my time when making decisions regarding decorating!  I gathered up my little samples of my dining room color swatches and hit the road.  My new favorite shopping spot is in Scottsdale, so it takes me about 30 minutes to get there.  I’ve been trying to drink my 8 glasses of water a day so I filled my travel cup full of lemon water and forced myself to drink it all on the way!  (I’m not a huge fan of water, I’d rather drink a latte or diet soda any day.)  Anyway…after arriving at the store, I was offered some immediate customer service and found out the rug I wanted was in-stock   After all the discounts were deducted from the price, I purchased my Jute Boucle Rug in Ivory for just $112.00.  I’ve been looking for over a year and I’m so glad the search if finally over.  I LOVE it!  It’s one more item that can be checked off the list for the dining room!  As you can see…I still need a couple more chairs!

 I didn’t really have an Easter tablescape done yet, so I scurried around the house to see what I could find.  I stole these little bunny bookends from the guest room.  The white crate was made by my husband for a painting class that I teach.  (This one is awaiting its additional layers of paint and graphic transfer.)  The grasses are left over from our previous home decor shoppe in Idaho, they come in quite handy from time to time.

Well, you are definitely seeing my dining room evolve step by step.  It’s fun putting together all the pieces and painting what needs to be painted, etc…   See the primitive plate rack hanging on the wall?  That’s going to be one of my victims in the very near future.  It’s going from primitive to cottage chic!  Until then…happy decorating!!!

    Love it!! Was thinking of changing out my oriental style rug in the dining room for something lighter for the summer months….wish we had West Elm here in Canada. Love the natural look of the jute.

    We don’t have West Elm (among many other great stores you gals talk about) here in Grand Junction, CO either. We got a TJMaxx a few months ago which everybody went crazy over.
    Anyway, loving that rug. It does say summery, at least to me. Love how it looks in the dining area. (Love also the adorable blue sideboard). Lucky you having great shopping spots close enough. If Scottsdale is anything like Tucson it’s loaded with shopping. Tucson reminded me of San Diego area with all the shopping about every other half mile or closer. Tucson sure wasn’t like that when we lived there. Think it’s a good thing I don’t live by all that shopping, I’d be in trouble all the time.
    I have a big jute type rug with palm trees around border I use in Spring/Summer/part of Fall. Otherwise I have a wool rug I use in cold months. It’s cold here so need something little warmer than the jute rug on floor.
    My hubs goes along when I go shopping to keep me out of trouble. He threatens to leave me to walk home if I take too long (according to him that is).

      Thanks so much! I LOVE TJMaxx too! I used to shop there for all the Home Goods stuff! I’m thrilled to be living so close to a Home Goods store now! And you’re right…there is GREAT shopping EVERYWHERE here!!! But, I must say ~ Colorado is a prettier place to live. You definitely have that advantage over us! :) ~ Judy
