Fabric Headboard

Hey, how are you tonight?  I don’t know about you, but I had a busy, busy Monday.  Spent the day in Scottsdale again.  I’m in the middle of a design job with some wonderful clients.  Today I finished up the girl’s bathroom and delivered the headboard I made for the Hannah’s bedroom.  Her comforter is from Anthropologie and she wanted to bring out the deep plum color as an accent.  It turned out beautiful.  They chose a lavender for the walls in their bathroom and vintage white for the cabinets.  My husband installed the brushed nickel towel bars, knobs and new light fixture to complete the look.  (Yes…I recruited my dear husband’s help once again ~ he’s such a trooper!)  Such a change from the salmon colored walls, it’s a much happier place now!!!  Next week I’ll be tackling the the music room, painting an accent wall from red to a warm neutral tone.


It was a process…

So sorry there is no photo of the wood cut-out.  I took pictures but it’s one of those cases where I can’t find them on my camera, phone or computer.  If I ever come across them I’ll add them to the post.  My father-in-law and husband cut it out using a jigsaw and 4′x8′ sheet of plywood.

 It took to rolls of 24″ wide foam.  I got one at 50% off and one at 40% off at Joann’s.  I used spray glue to secure it onto the wood.
 Next, I wrapped it with Batting using staples to secure it into place.

 I then wrapped it with upholstery fabric using staples to secure it.  My husband then attached the legs and I finished off the back by stapling on a drop cloth cut to fit and turning over the edges for a nice clean finish.
 We secured the headboard by screwing into the studs in the wall.  The next time I make a custom headboard, I promise to make a more in-depth tutorial.  In the meantime…if you have an specific questions, please feel free to ask.  I’d be happy to help. 
It stands 6′ tall.  They plan to get more pillows and shams to complete the look.

I wouldn’t let them put the shower curtain rod back up yet on the freshly painted walls so you’ll just have to imagine how pretty it will be!!!

      Oh…I so agree Pam! The bathroom looks so fresh and clean now. It’s a beautiful home and new to this family so we’re just taking room by room and making it their own! What a treat to be involved in the process!!! :)
