Well here’s the results of all my hard work this weekend!!! A dining room table with four chairs got a well deserved makeover. The entire set is extremely sturdy. The only thing that needed a little work was the extra table leaf. It looked like glue had been spilled all over it but with a little bit of sandpaper it was made smooth and ready for painting. I chose to use Vintage White and Smoky Mountain Gray from CeCe Caldwell’s Chalk Paint Collection for this project. Of-coarse painting all that cane on the high back chairs, getting in every nook and cranny, took a majority of my time. I LOVE all the details on the elegant table legs. After distressing with a damp cloth I sealed it with clear wax. After delivering it today to Furniture Affair I added another layer of wax to the table top for extra protection. I’ll add another layer tomorrow as I’ll be spending the day there as a guest painter. It’s a great place to hang out and be inspired.
I know…I haven’t put Father Christmas away yet. Poor thing has to be stuffed into a closet for another year.
I really enjoy painting large pieces but it’s a bear at 5 ft. tall (and wimpy) helping my husband lift and carry these items in and out of the house and into our pickup for delivery. Ugg! This is the non-glamorous part of what I do! No matter what the struggle…I still think it’s worth it!
