Whimsical Chic Dresser

From Tommy Bahama to Alice In Wonderland….presenting this whimsical chic dresser!

My husband spotted this dresser at a local auction house and instantly loved it, palm trees and all.  He didn’t think I should touch it, but I let him know right away that if it was coming home with us it would have to be painted!  I am very fortunate to have a client that just allows me to do my thing and when she saw this piece, she knew she had to have it so I got right to work.  I painted the base in a pebble stone color and then painted the nine drawers using three different shades of blues & greens.  I then sanded the edges and applied clear and dark wax for antiquing and protection.  Next, I needed to address the plain wooden knobs.  I decided to paint them all in the base color but then used the three drawer colors to accent each one by hand painting a scroll pattern.  This is another piece I’m going to have a hard time letting go of.  I know my daughter is going to be mad at me when she sees these photos and I’m not saving this dresser for her!  ”I’ll look for another one honey, I promise”.

So what do you think?  Palm trees or whimsy?

Until next time…hope you are having a wonderful week!
