Stars & Stripes Suitcase

This was a first for me…painting a suitcase!  Blue tape was the most important ingredient to the success of this project! (1″ blue tape made the perfect width for each stripe & I made my own star stencil then sponged painted each one.)  I made this for my friend, Kim.  She just moved into a new home and has the perfect spot for a vintage flag suitcase.  We’re meeting for lunch today at the Cheesecake Factory for the big reveal.  I am going to have her take a look and see if she prefers it as-is or if she would like me to antique it.  Hmmm…either way, I think it’s a keeper!

So…met with Kim and she agreed to let her suitcase be my guinea pig to try out the new antiquing spray I picked up at Joann’s last week.
Here it is after using Walnut Ink Antiquing Solution.  (Just spray and rub in ~ so easy!)  I think it gives it more depth and character!
I will be delivering this very special suitcase to it’s new home tonight!  I know it will be happy there!
