Old World Mirror

Remember this mirror from last week?  I found it at the local Swap Meet along with the brass candle sconces.  Anyway,  I decided to give the mirror an old world finish using ASCP Paris Grey and Gesso.
Before shot:  gold finish on frame, extremely heavy with beveled mirror
One coat of ASCP Paris Grey, leaving some gold showing through
Once dry, I lathered on the Gesso, one section at a time
I then rubbed it down with a soft cloth to the desired finish.  Last time I did this, I just placed the Gesso over the gold finish but I wanted to do something different this time so I added the grey.  I love it either way!
This has got to be the easiest way to re-finish an item and so quick.  The paint and the Gesso dry fast.  So within minutes you have a brand new one-of-a-kind piece of art!

If you want to see another item I finished using this technique without the grey paint click here.
Let me know if you decide to give this a whirl ~ I would love to see your photos!
